Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot says the Red Devils are aiming to avenge their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Premier League as the two sides face off in tonight’s Carabao Cup match.
Both teams come into the game in good form, having secured full points in the Premier League last weekend, with Spurs scoring five against Southampton and United earning bragging rights over their wounded rivals, Manchester City.
In an interview with the club’s website, Dalot discussed the team’s desire to make up for that previous performance and progress to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.
“It’s going to be a great game, especially considering how we felt after our last match against them at Old Trafford,” the defender told club media. “I don’t think we played our best, so we’re determined to respond differently in games like these.
“We started that match in the worst possible way, so we need to make sure we show from the outset that we’re there to win. We want to make it to Wembley again.
“These are the best kind of games to play, against strong teams. They’re a good side, so it’s a challenge we’re looking forward to.”
