Wolves have appointed Vítor Pereira as their new head coach on an 18-month contract, following Gary O’Neil’s dismissal.
The 56-year-old Portuguese manager joins from Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia, becoming Wolves’ third Portuguese boss after Nuno Espírito Santo and Bruno Lage.
Pereira faces the challenge of guiding the team away from relegation, as they currently sit five points outside the safety zone.
“Vítor Pereira has left Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab and conducted his first training session at Compton Park on Thursday.
He will lead Wolves in their upcoming match against Leicester City this weekend,” the club announced.
Pereira faces a significant challenge to turn Wolves’ season around, with the team holding the league’s worst defensive record, having conceded 40 goals.
Wolves’ next fixture is a crucial clash against 17th-placed Leicester City on Sunday, followed by tougher tests against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur later this month.
