Ademola Lookman, recently named African Footballer of the Year, has credited Atalanta for playing a key role in his development.
Lookman endured a challenging two-year period at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig before joining Atalanta in 2022.
Since then, the 27-year-old has emerged as one of the most potent forwards in the world.
The Nigeria international netted 13 goals in 31 league appearances during his first season at the Gewiss Stadium.
Lookman scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta in the 2023-24 season.
The winger has already netted 11 goals in 19 games for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side this season.
“I think the environment Atalanta has provided me has been crucial to my development as a player,” Lookman told Flashscore.
“And also, it’s about timing. I’ve always believed in myself and knew I could achieve great things. But now, the time has come, and I’m just grateful to be here.”
