Manchester City are reportedly preparing a bid of approximately £41.3 million (€50 million) for AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who was named after Nigerian football legend Tijani Babangida.
Inspired by Babangida’s performances at Ajax Amsterdam, Reijnders’ parents chose the name “Tijjani” for their son. The Dutch midfielder has since lived up to the footballing legacy of his namesake.
Reijnders is enjoying an impressive season at the San Siro, with three goals and two assists in 14 Serie A appearances. The Netherlands international and former AZ Alkmaar standout continues to shine on the pitch.
According to FootballFanCast, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is eager to bring the 27-year-old into his squad, commending his “freshness, balance, and versatility” in midfield. Guardiola reportedly sees Reijnders as a valuable asset to strengthen the team.
Manchester City are preparing a bid of around €50 million (£41.3m) in an effort to persuade Reijnders to swap Milan for Manchester.
However, the Rossoneri are actively working to extend Reijnders’ contract, aiming to secure his long-term future at the San Siro, which could complicate City’s plans.
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s struggles persisted with a 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester United.
The reigning champions have managed only one win in their last 12 matches across all competitions and now sit nine points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand.
