Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has reportedly tested positive for a banned substance during a routine urine test.
The club confirmed being informed of the adverse finding by the FA. Mudryk, in an Instagram statement, denied knowingly consuming any prohibited substances and expressed his determination to investigate the matter.
Chelsea pledged to support him in uncovering the cause of the failed test. Mudryk added, “I know I have done nothing wrong and remain hopeful of returning to the pitch soon.”
Under FA guidelines, players who test positive for banned substances may face provisional suspensions.
However, the FA has not confirmed if Mykhailo Mudryk has been suspended or when the test occurred.
Mudryk last played for Chelsea on November 28 and has missed five matches since. Although he was in the squad for Chelsea’s December 1 win over Aston Villa, he did not play, with head coach Enzo Maresca attributing his absence to illness.
Mudryk joined Chelsea in 2023 for £89 million, scoring 10 goals in 73 appearances.
