Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has downplayed the significance of today’s derby against Manchester City at the Etihad, emphasizing his long-term goal of improving the team and securing victories.
Despite being new to derby day as United’s boss, Amorim has already led the Red Devils to a notable win over City earlier this season.
Speaking to the club’s website, the Portuguese coach reiterated his commitment to enhancing the squad’s performance rather than focusing on individual matches.
“I’m very focused on the details and improving the team, so I can’t approach this derby like a typical rivalry match between two title-contending teams—it’s not that right now. For me, it’s just another game against a strong opponent.
Both teams are struggling at the moment, but I hope to experience the true spirit of a derby in the future. I know how important it is for our fans, and my priority remains improving the team, winning games, and trying to win this one.”
