Mason Mount faces the prospect of being out for months following a leg injury sustained during Manchester United’s derby win over Manchester City.
Mount lasted only 14 minutes before being substituted and was visibly upset as he left the pitch.
Reports suggest he may not return until March, marking another setback in his struggle with injuries since joining United.
Manager Ruben Amorim initially estimated Mount would miss several weeks, but the latest updates indicate a longer recovery period.
“I don’t know the exact timeline, but it will be a lengthy recovery, and that’s just part of football,” said the 39-year-old coach.
He emphasized supporting Mason Mount through this challenging period, helping him adapt to the team’s system during his recovery.
“We’ll use this time to teach him about our game and encourage him to reflect on new approaches,” he explained.
Acknowledging the difficulties of limited training opportunities due to frequent injuries, he added, “We’ll support Mason fully. It’s tough for players, but if they put in the effort, we’ll stand by them.”
