Manchester City have confirmed the passing of a fan following a “medical emergency” during their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
In a statement shared on social media, the club expressed their condolences and acknowledged the tragic incident that occurred during Sunday’s Premier League match.
The club’s thoughts are with the family and friends of the supporter during this incredibly difficult time,” Manchester City said.
The tragic news came after City’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United, where Josko Gvardiol’s first-half header put the hosts ahead.
However, Amad Diallo sparked a late comeback for United, winning a penalty from Matheus Nunes, which Bruno Fernandes converted. Moments later, Diallo sealed the win by controlling Lisandro Martinez’s long pass, lifting the ball over Ederson, and scoring from a tight angle.
