Chelsea kept their Premier League title ambitions alive with a 2-1 victory over Brentford on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
From the outset, Chelsea dominated play, pressing Brentford deep into their half. The breakthrough came in the 43rd minute when Marc Cucurella made an athletic dive into the box to head Noni Madueke’s cross past goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
However, Cucurella’s night ended on a sour note as he was shown a second yellow card after the final whistle, reportedly for shoving Kevin Schade.
With ten minutes remaining, Jackson netted his ninth Premier League goal of the season, slotting the ball inside the near post after connecting with a pass from Enzo Fernandez.
Brentford remained a constant threat on the counter, and the industrious Bryan Mbeumo pulled one back in the final minute of regulation time, setting up a tense finish for Chelsea, who are now four points ahead of third-placed Arsenal.
