Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed the team is ready for Sunday’s Manchester derby against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
In an interview with the club’s website, Guardiola emphasized that City will give their all to beat their rivals.
“It’s an important game,” said Guardiola. “It’s significant emotionally for our fans at the stadium, and it’s special. But in these kinds of matches, I always believe that the less emotional you are, the better you’ll perform.
“I think in our roles, we always strive to do our best, and when that doesn’t happen, it makes us uncomfortable.
“It’s not just managers, but especially those who are under constant scrutiny for every decision we make as a team.
“You naturally reflect on what you can do better. Over the past few weeks, given the situation with our results, I’m really pleased with how we’ve played. I have a certain level of authority in my career that helps me recognize when we’re playing well or not.
“We need to shoot more, reduce mistakes, yes, but the game is there for us.
“In the other games, we were there. I understand why things unfolded the way they did, and that’s what helps us move forward. We just have to keep working, and that’s what we will do.”
