Liverpool manager Arne Slot highlighted the importance of quality players like Mohamed Salah in major matches, following the Egyptian’s late goal that clinched a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. Salah, who hinted last month at a potential departure from Liverpool after this season, also scored in last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea, and previously netted the decisive penalty against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Top players have a unique quality—they’re always available and show up for the big games,” Slot told reporters. “For a club like ours, or like Arsenal, having these quality players is essential because, without them, achieving results becomes much harder.”

Salah, currently tied with Robbie Fowler as Liverpool’s eighth-highest goalscorer with 163 goals, has netted six times in the league this season, scoring in five of Liverpool’s seven league victories.

“It’s essential for a club to have players who can make a difference, and Mo was that player for us today,” Slot added.

Liverpool currently sits with 22 points from nine matches, just one point behind leaders Manchester City. Slot’s team will face Brighton & Hove Albion twice this week—first away in the League Cup on Wednesday, followed by a home league match on Saturday.
